Just wanted to add... I thought your recorded sound was fine.. just the sound editing. Also if I could shoot shots as clean and well lit as this I would be one happy camper. But I am still getting used to the dvx.

Thanks! My sound editing needs some tweaking. I know a guy who's really good in the sound department (he runs a recording studio), so I'm gonna get his help on some of my future projects.
A little trick that I use for lighting is to use more light than I think I'll need to. Then trust the camera to get you the proper exposure. If you don't like what you see, change stuff. That's about all I do.:thumbsup:

I know I already told you what I thought but I figured I'd post it for all the world to read in awe...
I really liked your piece...maybe I should reword that... I liked your film! I liked the seeming simplicity of it, and the reveal that its a lot more complex.
I did not mind the stills at all. I mean, I knew they were stills, but they didn't bug me as much as some of the others.
Technically I thought you did a nice job. Really even lighting (amazed at what you said about the garage--blinds???!!!) and clean audio. Your girlfriend did a great job on the script and it was acted well through out, though I do agree that more make up was needed.
You did a great job and look forward to more from you.

If you haven't seen "Zombie is My Neighbor", the beheading is exactly what my beheading in "The First Friday the 13th on Halloween" looked like on thrilling super 8MM 20....ekkkk 25 years ago. I cracked up.

Be interested to know if you ever use an anamorphic and what you do there. I find with the anamorphic, for perfect focus you need to manually set the aperture, and thus there is a tendancy to overexpose with too much lighting, obviously when shooting in the same space at different focus and zoom this can mean some variations in lighting which would in turn result in video that seems lighter in some clips and darker in others... actually might post this as a tech question also.

I liked the idea behind this flick and I thought the actual shots looked really nice... I would have liked to hear a modified zombie screach from the girl or more visual cues in her face (blood, wounds, etc)... to sell the concept. Maybe smash a wig on a pumpkin with the nightstick... or shoot it at an angle so you can hide the impact and use a harder "crack" on the head sound. At the end I was perplexed at all the cars and the busy street? Is the girl lead hallucinating the zombies and actually has a girl tied up in her garage? Was that the twist? As in no such thing as zombies?
If that's what you were going for then that's a pretty damn good twist... so I'm assuming that was it. (I didn't read this whole thread so forgive me if I'm repeating anything... after the criticisms of not enough reviews I figure part of the reason is because a person like myself goes to comment and then sees their thoughts already put to words.)
The audio quality and shot quality were good, I would have liked to hear better sound effects... this flick looked really good though.

I agree with your suggestions. I had zero crew and my girlfriend was playing both the major parts, so my choices were often limited. I did what I could, but I'll tell ya... I'm not working like that again. It was too frustrating.:laugh:
