No sound/waveforms on Timeline?

Hi,

I used Premier 2.0 to edit my feature film. I exported it after my first rough edit to have a friend go over it and get back to me on what needed to be changed ect. Got that worked out and went back to make the changes and add sound effects and there is no audio on the timeline.

Well actually the audio clips are still there but they are flatlined. No wave forms. Opening them in audition... same thing. They are empty. I have spent all night trying to work some majic to fix this.

1. No my DV isn't hooked up, and My audio playback setting are set to play back on my computer not my TV (which isn't hooked up). :)

2. No the waveforms aren't turned off.

3. Yes all the audio was done conforming.

I have moved around those darn .pek files, in hopes of it working and I've edited the .pek file paths directly in the project file using wordpad (comparing it to a working copy), etc. No luck.

I have another copy of this same project and it works just fine, using the same .pek files as the project I'm currently working on. I don't understand it. I even used the render and replace option to see if that would do anything. It just made more empty audio clips. I tried copy and paste into a whole new project (which saved another jacked up version previously) with no luck. I moved all the .pek files and let the program rebuild them and it rebuilt empty ones.

The reason I'm not using the working file is because I made some crucial audio changes to the recent non working file and am trying to avoid having to redo it.

So my question is, is there a way to replace just the audio in the timeline from the source clips without redoing the whole thing? The audio in the source clips in the project window works fine when drug to the timeline or played in the preview window.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

Oh man i've ran into this problem several times and i've literally had to start editing my project all over again. Sorry i can't help you but i'd really like to hear a solution for future reference too. Let's hope some clver person knows what to do.

maybe start new project, then import clips to simple timeline and select them, right mouse, unlink, keep selected and use the export audio in file menu. save them to a file location that you can import to your original project. hope that helps, but man i hope i dont have that problem.

Thanks Tin Man, that's a good idea. But that would replace the changes I've made to the audio for the final rough edit. And I do have a working copy with the audio where it needs to be, it just doesn't have those edits I need.

I was hoping I was missing some hidden feature for Premier to re-conform the audio directly from the source clip instead of from the timeline.

That's cool. It's rough. when you have working source clip audio sitting right there. hahahaha

Importing to another project didn't work. It was like the squence itself is corrupt somewhere. Fortunately the copy I thought didn't have the latest sound changes actually does have them and I believe what happened with that copy was it kept crashing adobe after effects so I copied and pasted it all to a new project and that fixed the issue. But the copy got jacked up. So I'm using the working copy and I'm glad I made that copy. hahahaha

Thanks for your thoughts everyone.

Actually, I keep loosing audio on every new copy of this thing. I have no idea what's happening. So i've had to use the working copy to export the whole movie as one .avi file and continue my editing in Vegas or something else. I can't risk using Permier again. I added all these sound effects to another copy and lost them all.
