Hi. Since updating to HD, when in Log+capture, I cannot see any preview in my preview area even though the controls operate my deck ok and device status says VTR OK. what have I inadvertantly changed? How can I sort this out? Thanks.
Hey Jude (sorry couldnt resist it)
If youve upgraded to HD you may have installed QT7. If you have there are issues with it in that it interfers with the preview window. uninstall it with this thread here back down to 6.5 hope this helps.
If you are using firewire as a video playback try disabling it or unplug it. I have used a firewire to d/a converter to view on a monitor and fcp will not allow you to view it in the preview.
I am running FCP HD on a dual 867 G4 and using Quicktime 7. I have run into a problem where the preview window will show just color bars (Preview Disabled) but had figured out it was when I disconnected the DV deck and switched to another one, while Capture Window was still open, and had to restart the Log and Capture in order for it to read the newly plugged in deck. Also you may want to try the Quicktime Update (7.0.1) here: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/mac.html
Although the specs read that "The new release provides several important bug fixes, a security enhancement, and improved compatibility with Final Cut Studio. This update is recommended for all QuickTime 7 users." So give that a try. I would hate to have to give up H.264 compression. That sh|ts good. Update us on any continuing problems.
Thanks guys. I am running 10.3.5 and quicktime 6.5.1 on a dual 1G G4. I'll do all the updates and see what happens. I never had a prob previously on 10.2 and FCP 4. At the mo I don't even get colour bars, just gray. I will give the updates a bash and see what happens. Thanks for the help.
