No playback, only blue screen on HVX

Hoping I didn't break my camera! I was connecting this HVX to my MacBookPro via FireWire and using FCP7 for the first time. Just figured out how to use log and capture when it told me that preview was disabled. Tried quitting and relaunching FCP, reconnecting FireWire, turning camera on and off and then I noticed that I wasn't getting a picture on the camera screen either. Did a hard reset of the camera. Still I only get a blue screen in the playback mode. Am I missing something or has something gone wrong on the camera?
 
Problem appears to have fixed itself. It started to show blue horizontal stripes over the video for a few seconds on playback, then the stripes went away. I am wondering if this could be caused by a dirty head?
