No output to camera

Hi all,

I've finished a project and need to record it to my DVX (100A Pal), but it does not show any image or sound on the camera, even though it does respond to rewinding for example. The weird thing is also that while capturing from my camera I have it linked to a monitor: it is visible. While editing, the camera is still linked to the monitor, but I do not have any output then either.

Can anyone help me out please, I'm new to the Final Cut format...
Thanks in advance for all your suggestions!

Cheers

Thank you BenB. I've checked them (and tried several other settings), but I think they should be alright. All is set to output via Firewire Pal DV, but I still do not get any output. I-movie does show my output via Firewire and recognizes my camera as a dvx-100a...does Final Cut Pro properly recognize this camera as well?

Thanks for any suggestions

Ok, just tested the 'print to tape' thing again and it somehow worked now (not sure due to which changes). 'Edit to tape' however, does not seem to work yet. Same goes for the live output while editing, as no signal appears on the dvx and monitor yet. Still a bit in the dark :) Anyone?

I use both DVX100 and HVX200 daily, they both work with FCP if configured correctly.

In your Audio/Video Settings, make sure in the Summary tab Video Playback is set to Firewire. Also, make sure your Playback Output in the A/V Devices tab is set to Firewire.

You may try hitting View > Refresh A/V Devices.

The camera works with FCP if FCP is set up properly. Turn the camera on before you launch FCP. Then launch FCP, does it warn you at launch that no devices are found?

If not, your output settings in FCP are not set properly. If it does warn you there's no devices attached, check the FW cable, try a different FW port, etc.

Make sure the camera's menu options are set properly for external playback to be fed directly back, too. I remember when I first got my DVX100a, I had to change something in it's menu to get it to playback, but I don't remember what it was.
