You guys who go without oughtta consider medical tourism. I've been in the Philippines the past two months and had my teeth cleaned for $10. My wife's bridge work was supposed to cost $5,700 in the states, in the Philippines they did it for $600.

Quality? a good dentist there is way better than some of the hacks and rookies you'd get here. I just cancelled my Concordia Dental Plan which was a complete joke.

You still need the plane ticket of course. Best thing is just make a laundry list of work you'd need done. Fillings, kidney transplant, hair plugs, get it all done in one fell swoop. Get yourself all squared away. Beer is also cheap there.

Lol, go in for a dental implant and come out with breasts. I mean this is the Philippines we're talking about here!

Sad Max is right. You can find lower rates by getting lumped in to a larger group. Large groups have more leverage in negotiating rates with the insurance companies. Small companies and individuals of course have no leverage therefore they get the "dirty" end of the stick. AICP is another industry related group that offers insurance to their members.

Just to clarify - MPH&W is not a provider-plan like AASE, for example. It's medical service funded by the Motion Picture Fund accessed by IATSE, SAG, and some other organizations' membership based upon a professional bank of hours. Coverage is based upon working a certain minimum number of union hours, each year.

I tried going overseas for a dental treatment and ended up with this guy.

This thread is hilarious!

I don't think I could muscle up enough to remove a wisdom tooth if I was sober! Plus, in the US, they won't even give you an antibiotic without a prescription, so you'll still have to pay $75 to a doctor who says "you used a pliers to do what?" after it gets infected.

Maybe you can find a dentist who wants a commercial? :)

I was suprised to find out the is not much "pulling" involved in pulling a tooth....mostly luxation.

I was also suprised to learn that I cant lick my elbow and the distance from my wrist to my elbow is the same as my foot size....???

Yeah, lotsa workin-it-loose...

It's the snapping, popping, clicking noises, that I don't like, myself...

I believe that I could lick your elbow if for some reason I needed to, but the distance from my wrist to your elbow is probably bigger than anyone's foot size.
