No Fireworks?

Well, yeah. They're a pain in the butt to shoot. Especially when you don't prepare and have to use a cardboard mailing tube braced against a dumpster as a stabilizing device, can't see at night to focus "out there" somewhere, and can't remember the optimal settings (if you ever knew them).

So you end up with a shot like this:

Canon 300D, 18-55mm, wide open, 1/100th, "medium" size, fine. And PaintShop Pro X Smart Photo Fix to brighten the highlights, sharpen, and make "more colorful". :)

Anyone have any good ones? And settings for next time?

I spent so much time shooting the things, I didn't actually see the fireworks. :)

But at least I didn't cut away to crowd scenes like the tv coverage of the Macy's show did. Idjits. Don't they know the little-kids-picking-their-noses show is on the 7th of July?

damn I was thinking about taking pictures of fireworks, but I was like nah they would be pretty uninteresting and there are like a million of them

but you guys proved me wrong, nice stuff.

cheezwee, that first one almost looks like a collage of different images, very cool.
