I was digging through some boxes at the bottom of a closet and happen to come across some old stills from one of the sets of my very first live action film, (a science fiction short), when I was still in art school. (This is circa 1976)
I thought some of you might get a chuckle at these old photos, (hand held no flash and slow shutter speed), of a spacecraft bridge set we built in my friend's family rec room for just under $500.
There was no formal film program. I was in an Art of Film course as an interdisciplinary option and I found out that instead of writing a term paper, you could try your hand at making any kind of a film. I could borrow a camera from the A/V dept. but lights, film stock and everything else would be up to me.
Note the wall plug in the background.
Note the cheesy letraline around the helm display panels.
Yes that is duct tape outlining the main view screens which are tar paper. The blue walls are painted tar paper as well covering the fake wood panelling of the basement rec room.
The space jacket was from a discard discount clearance store. We got a bunch for $9 each.
Yes that is peg board behing the smoked plexiglass in our main computer mock up.
Geez I'm suddenly feeling all nostalgic here!
Cheers
