no audio in vegas timeline

hello,

i captured a tape from a minidv camera via firewire. dv-avi using windows movie maker. i have done this a hundred times before with no problem whatsoever. today however, after capturing and importing the avi file on my vegas timeline, there is no audio. the audio works with windows media player, it works with after effects but somehow my vegas 8.0 can't produec the audio of the clip. can someone help me on this? thank you very much.

yes. i captured it the same way as before. anyway, i think the problem is with my canon minidv camera capture device because i tried to capture using my sony camera and everything's fine. if i use canon with vegas, it does have audio. anyway, i wasn't capturing from vegas before because i occasionally get dropped frames unlike when capturing with moviemaker.
