Can this be used with the HVX200?

Unfortunately the web site (http://www.nnovia.com) isn't loading properly in Safari so I can't make out if this product is useful.

All I can say for sure about this product is that it uses 100 gig REMOVABLE drives for only $399. Wow.

Nnovia does not yet have a recorder for HVX but they assured me at NAB that it was in the works.

Actually, I take that back.... the QCDeck is a firewire deck for offloading rather than a recorder. They do not yet have direct-to-disk recorder for HD but this deck should work with MXF files.

I was also shown the QC Deck at NAB, and they said "in a few months" they will have a version that works for HVX. He said it would have a removeable HD, with cables so you can download your clips to a PC via firewire/USB2. He also said estimated price of $2k.

I know they are working on this now, as I have emailed with the company serveral times in the last few weeks, but have no idea how far along they are. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

Not even for DV/DV25?

Not even for DV/DV25?

My previous post was unclear...mea culpa.

I'm looking for something that provides long-form recording to be able to do legal work, e.g. depositions. I need the insurance of a backup of the recording in addition to tape, but I need date & time stamp on both the tape and the backup recording.

For depositions, with date/time stamp being necessary, DV quality would be fine. I know I can get that on both the tape and P2, (but P2 would be absolutely impractical), but thought I'd also get it on the backup recording with the component out of the HVX feeding into the QC Deck.

Per Barry's book, the HVX never sends date/time stamp via 1394, so I can't get what I need with the Firestore, CitiDisk, or any other 1394 device.

As I read it, I thought the QCDeck model w/component input would give me what I need. Am I on the right track to get what I need, or am I still missing something? The versatility of the HVX is nice, but for this situation, (with the limitation of date/time stamp not traveling over 1394), I think I've been painted into a corner and have no other choice.
