Nnovia QC info

I sent some questions to Nnovia and got such a fact-filled reply, I thought I'd share it with potential (or current) owners of the Quickcapture:

You cannot record in HDD mode; you can only record in VTR mode. You must "Make Media Files" every time you've recorded any additional footage. You can only make media files in VTR mode.

The basic explanation is this: Power up in VTR mode to record, Record in VTR mode in any bin, make media files, power down, plug QC into computer via firewire, power up in HDD mode. Your Quick Capture will appear as a drive on your computer, within the drive bins will appear as folders, within the folders, recorded clips will appear as files.

Word to the wise: in HDD mode, your QC will look like a regular hard drive, however it does not function exactly the same. Do not erase anything from your QC in HDD mode; you can only erase in VTR mode (In VTR mode, you can "empty this bin" or "empty all bins"). Also, do not copy onto the QC drive in HDD mode. Of course, you can copy files FROM the QC drive onto your computer, but do not copy files from your computer to your Quick Capture drive in HDD mode. Any recording onto the Quick Capture drive must be done through VTR mode.
