NLE (PPro) Laptop Spec/Suggestions

Bought a Vaio, 1.8Duo, 1gb ram, 2mb L2Cache, on board shared 256mb shared video. (About an $800 laptop).


Well, i think it's going back.


I am guessing that any laptop should have:

1. 2GB RAM
2. Separate Video card, at least 256mb dedicated
3. 2-4mb L2 Cache

Any input on Alienware or Dell XPS? Any good suggestions for under 2g?

Vista or XP?

Okay, made the buy:

M90 Dell Laptop. 2gb RAM 887Mhz, 256 NVidia 1500 DEDICATED Video Card, Core 2 Duo at 2 GHZ, DVI out, etc. etc.

Issue is that the guy i bought it from took vista off and put on XP Home, SP1. I went to microsofts website and updated everything through SP2.

Is this enough? Is Window SP2 close enough to XP Pro? I also looked over the tweaks, and have applied some of them. I'll keep you posted on how this baby runs!

its likely a very good move going with XP SP2 vs vista. theres just too much stuff that vista has issues with still. keep us posted about its performance.
