NLE for PPro 2

I want to get a new workstation. I want to spend about $10K-$15K.
What are your recommendations?
From CPU to dual processor, dual core, dual core dual processor, to Capture Card to Graphics card? The whole shootin' match.
What do you think would be best with PPro 2?
thanks in advance

There's a place in Burbank, I think...NLE. We've had major problems with some of our equipment and I know that everyone on this Board is suspect especially when it comes to recommendations. But my reputation, I believe, is golden in helping out when I can and I urge you to check out the JVC Board under other cameras to find out my history. That being said, call NLE. They're the most well-respected and honest educated builders of killer systems I know and that's going some. I can't afford to put my name on the line and be wrong but with these guys, I'm willing to do that. At the very least, give them a call and chat. I guarantee, the chat will be well-worth your time. 1-818 242 4996

Guygraphics.com can definately recommend some cool setups - so can promax.com . The guys over at guygraphics can also help with info. Also, be sure to check in with the adobe forum people adobe.com - go to forums.

They work fine but often times software is better with intel chips. With my X2 4400+, I had a lot of problems that didnt surface with my intel box - tweaking eventually fixed them but it was annoying.

really? argh I was thinking that the x2 would be better because of the dual core and from looking at reviews it seemed it performed best overall, but I guess it has some problems with premiere? I have a p4 3.0 ghz and I was about to switch over to the x2's. :\

Intel has the dual cores as well - the Pentium D 900 series - I rec the 3.2 or 3.4 chip.

With PPro 2.0, I havent seen any problems come up with the AMD X2. It is really with the motherboard design with the Nforce 4 chipset - some people complain that it it starved for bandwidth (with SLI and everything)

The intel 955X chipset is very good and the new 975X chipset on intel is really cool - this is the motherboard to have:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813121016
PCI Express x16 3
PCI Slots 2

The right ammount of expandibility - you can get fast raid controllers for the express slots along with HD cards like the Kona and you have pci for the pro audio cards.
The AMD X2 is more of a gamer oriented chipset. If you want to do video stuff, get a Opterion chipset - they are not "starved for bandwidth" As a small example, my matrox x100 wouldnt work in a AMD X2 - See Matrox's rec list here:

go to bottom of page.

thanks for the links. I'll look into it...decisions decisions

by the way what are other alternatives besides the matrox stuff?
