I know I am jumping the Gun considernig I don't have a camera yet but this seems like a good deal and I wanted others opinions. I have a friend of a friend whom is switching to Avid for his editing pleasure. I have been writing with this guy for about a year now and he knows I am trying to start making films myself.

He has offered to sell me the following software:

Vegas 6
Acid Pro 5
Sound Forge
& a DVD Authorer

All this for $200.00, I know it is a great deal and I am more than likely going to take him up on it. I wanted to ask ya'll if these programs would be a good start with a easy Learning Curve. I know Vegas alone is worth the money and I have seen him use it previously so I feel pretty comfortable with it. What do any of you know about Acid and Sound Forge. Are they pretty good programs?

Also, Do any of you know where I can get Manuals and How-to's for these software programs. He only has the CDS and the Serials. He said his g/f threw out the boxes and manuals on accident a few months back.

Thanks for your help! :)

Which DVD program? If DVD Architect, jump.

Great price for that bundle no matter what, though.

It is DVD Architect and he also said he has CD Architect that he would give me.

Does anyone know of any cheap or FREE user guides or technical how-to's for these programs. Or is there anyone in the Austin area that wouldn't mind coming to my place and giving me some tutorials or help. I will pay money for your time or give you some Movie Memorobillia or buy you dinner or anything..Just name it! :)

For Vegas 6 go to www.vasst.com and order the Vegas 6 DVD. I have it for Vegas 5 and it is brilliant. A quick start to Vegas can also be found right here on DVXUser. If you go to the Vegas channel and just read you will be an expert user before you know it. Just keep reading through every thread. About every 50 pages each question is asked about four times so once you can answer every question before you read the responses you're a pro.

Furthermore, Sound Forge is an excellent program, and DVDA is an incredible authoring program.

Vegas is awesome though, that single piece of software is worth it alone.

Perfect. Thank you sooo Much! I got the Software yesterday and have loaded everything.

I do however have a problem. When I Installed Vegas I received an error -> Media Manager %&@!% not installed. Do I need the media manager. I deleted and re-installed and received the same error. Is the media manager that important and will it create problems with editing without it?

The media manager isn't necessary. It's handy, but not needed.

Becareful of how you interpret what Horse says...

He also says that alcohol is necessary but its handy...

Whats the difference between Sound Forge 8 and Acid Pro 6?

Dont they pretty much do the same thing?
