NiSi Variable ND 4-500 (9 Stops ???)

I bought this variable ND filter, but after taking it home and doing testing with it, I am very disappointed.

It is advertised as being a 9 stop filter.
But, after testing it - on min I get 3 stops (which is good) and on max I get 5 stops (not even close to 9 stops)

So, this variable ND filter does not give me 6 stops of ND as it should, but only gave me 2 stops of ND.

Just a warning to those who were interested in this variable ND, it is not as strong of an ND as it should be.

The color cast is also very weird, giving it a very cyan type of look.
My LEE has a slight blue tint, but this is a cyan color, so Im not sure how easily it'll be fixable in post.

Anyone have any recommendations for a good 82mm Variable ND filter?

I thought about buying one last year, then the SLR Magic MK II VND went on sale for $120 on B&H.

It's significantly better than my old LCW fader ND. Here's a variable ND sharpness test mini shoot-out that I did.

If the Nisi VND isn't any good, I wonder if Zomei and Haida ones are worthless too. I considered getting a 40.5mm Zomei VND to use with my Sony 16-50mm lens (I know not the greatest lens), but I'm just not sure how good or bad it is.

I never looked into it. I also never heard of the SLR Magic. ill look into that one.

I did go back to where I bought it and they too were shocked. They ordered a new one and told them to test it before sending it out.
Ill see if the one they send next week will be any better. If not, ill look into a different filter.
