Ninja Assassin vs Shogun -- which is best?

I'm about to buy an external recorder for my XC10.

I have narrowed it down to the Atomos Ninja Assassin or the Atomos Shogun.

Am I better off with the Ninja Assassin, or is it worth saving up for the Shogun? I know the Shogun does RAW, but I'm thinking how useful (or how much of a headache) the RAW feature would be. Is RAW really needed, or is that only used in Hollywood movies?

Am I better off sticking with a 10 bit recorder, or is their a distinct advantage getting the Shogun?

The bottom of this article says that the HDMI on the XC10 can output at 10 bit:

See how two people can read the same article and see two different things.

I didn't see the article say your camera's mini-HDMI can output 10-bit.

What I saw was..... Tha Atomos Shogun can record 10-bit.

For what it's worth... Maybe the xc10 can output 10-bit. You should know, as you own the camera. I was just basing my reply on the info I gleamed when I was specing the camera upon release. Which I got from the B&H spec page on the camera, along with user reviews which reported the output to be 8-bit.

All the best!

Dave
