man alveraz, that is a wonderful shot

well i went walking around in coronado waiting for planes to fly over and caught this one flying overhead; no post work at all.

and i corrected it:

hum, the first looks perfect to me. The second is way warmer. Wonder if it's my monitor our yours that needs to be calibrated? :)

thanks, and i think i'm with dan on those plane shots. i think the first one is the stronger version. the second one feels a little flat to me. cool shot though!

thanks for the feedback guys, that is probably the case, I've yet to splurge on a calibration system. on mine it appears a bit blue for my liking.

here is a few more from my meanderings:

enjoy,

As always, working on the side doing headshots for my fellow actors. Here are a couple recent clients.

Ty Vaughn. This gal was so fun to shoot. Full of life and a happy fun energy. Very easy to capture that genuine spark of life she has.

Justin Lang. A great actor I've worked with before both in college and also abroad in a couple Shakespeare productions. Normally I tell people to never wear white because it blows out in the light, but something about it just worked for this shot, I particularly like the highlight his shirt bounces back up to his jawline, really defines his face shape.

Ah! Headshots. I just shot my first set of headshots. I am no newbie to photography, but have never had to shoot headshots before. As a cinematographer, I felt as if holding the camera vertical was like cheating on your wife. It was awkward, new, exciting, and fun! I still prefer the widescreen aspect ratio vs the portrait, but it really was a good time.

The actor is a friend of mine from college. He is out here in LA acting. He wanted some new headshots and since he knew I was a cinematographer/ photographer he wanted to see what i could do. Here are my favorites"

I shot with a All manual Nikon FE2, Kodak 200 speed color 35mm color film. I was very happy to get my film back and see some kinda cool shots. Some of the pictures in the shade had a slight green bounce (from the nearby grass getting sun) so I found the only other corrections needed were slight shifts to the magenta spectrum.

Love those shots Ryan. Esp the 2nd. Good to see some film popping in here.

Here are a few shots I took at Red Rock Canyon using my N80 and Velvia 50.

another picture from my stay in Coronado, i didnt like the sky being blue, so i changet it to a more orange-y hue

2 in the Can,
Can you please send me a link to the layover you used? I would like to use that on a photo that I have...would be much appreciated!

Been doing more and more photography lately and wanted to see if you guys had any thoughts on a few of my favorites I've shot lately - sometimes I feel like I'm kind of stuck and need some good critiques to take my work up a notch or two...
