Nikon Macros for Letus35mm

Hi,
I'm about to buy the Letus35mm but I want to be able to shoot some macro stuff. Wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I'm going to get Nikon 50mm 1.4 and 28mm 2.8, but was thinking macro for the long lens. Is that the best idea? I noticed Storm recommends the 70-210 Vivitar. Where do I get that? Any other suggestions for macros.
thanks

You'll want a longer focal length if you're lighting - the 55mm and wider macro lenses sit less than a couple of inches away from the subject when you're in close.
I have a couple of 105/2.5 macros, one a Nikkor and the other a high end original Vivitar Series One that I use on my DOF box, I could let you have one of those for a reasonable amount of money if you'd like.
I haven't played with zooms on my DOF box yet, but I think you'd want a two ring lens (separate focus and zoom rings, not the push-pull style one-touch lenses) and something with internal focusing. I don't think I have my back focus set sufficiently accurately to be able to use one of those yet, but then again I haven't tried.
Personally, I feel that unless the lens is 2.8 or larger, there isn't much point in using it on a DOF adaptor., and that rules out a lot of the less espensive macro zooms.
However, I'm sure that someone will chime in with a gerat two touch marco zoom lens 2.8 or larger for not a lot of money before too long...

So on the Letus35 site it says it accepts AI lenses. Why would you want "automatic aperture index" lenses. Don't you want everything to be totally manual? Would it not work with these "Non-AI" lenses? Can I mount any manual Nikor lenses on it?

As long as your manual Nikon lenses were made after 1959 you should be able to use them with the Letus. They've been using the f-mount, which the letus accepts, for pretty much all of their lenses since then.

Macro Lenses Barrel Extend?

Macro Lenses Barrel Extend?

Hi again,
I forgot to check this thread again.
I'm still researching macros lenses for my letus35 (should be coming soon). It seems like a lot of macro lenses have a barrel that extends (not only in the front, but can also be on the side closer to the mount, behind the focus ring). What I'm getting at is, can't that make a follow-focus impossible to use on such a lens? Look at this lens for example: http://cgi.ebay.com/Nikon-105mm-f2-...ryZ48556QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem

thanks,
sns
