Nikon Lenses

Are there any specific types of Nikon lenses that I need to stay away from (or are simply incompatible) with Nikon mounts on adapters? AF, G, etc?....I'm new to SLRs.

Thanks,
D.

DX lenses are designed for smaller sensor cameras so do not project a full 35mm frame sized image. They also dont have iris control.

Stay away from "G" series they don't have the apperature control ring. Also the nikkor lens with letters, they are from the 50s-60s, they have a scallopped barrel. I had a few of them, sometimes they give a werid tint to the image, also the focus was a bit stiff on those lens. They looked cool but sometimes didn't match with my newer lens with different coatings.

kenrockwell.com is a great resource for info on lenses. It's got nothing to do with camcorders and adapters, but he's tested and reviewed dozens (possibly even hundreds) of lenses old and new. The articles are full of detail and often include direct comparisons and supporting data. Well worth a look IMO.
