I got a nikon lens stuck on my letus. Any one have any suggestions? I cant seem to get it off. I put it on when it was cold. I wonder if that had anything to do with it. It was still stuck when it was cold though so I dont think it has to to do with the metal expanding.

hi,
I know this has nothin to do with this subject, but it's close enough.....
CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHERE TO GET A 35MM ADOPTOR ( the whole thing)

thank

There are several adapters. Do a search and you will find plenty of info here.

heh. I was thinking of freezing the lens so the metal will contract
Unfortunately that won't work, as the two items are stuck together, and will shrink together.
I would be inclined to use WD-40 very sparingly, - don't spray it on, spray it into a container, and apply it with a dropper or syringe.
Let it penetrate the joint for a few minutes, and try undoing it.
If you don't succeed, repeat.

One little trick that you could try is as follows:

1: Get two pieces of cable (the grey twin and earth stuff is good) long enough to go round the lens and adapter plus a bit extra to hold on to.

2: Wrap said cable round sturdy points on lens and adapter

3: Press and hold the lens release button

4: Use the extra leverage to rotate the lens and adapter apart.

This is very good for shifting stuck filters too.
The pic below shows sort of what I mean

It goes without saying that you should clean the WD-40 off the lens and adapter before further use.

Hope this helps.

You might also want to try using rubber gloves. I've had filters stuck on lenses in the past and the traction I got from wearing gloves helped to separate the two.
