Nikon AI Lens on Brevis or Letus

Hi All,

I am very new to the 35mm Adapter world. I am looking at getting a Letus or a Brevis but wanted to know if I get a Nikon mount what the difference is between a Nikon AI lens vs a Non AI lens and if both would mount with a Nikon Mount?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Sean.

The Ais and Non Ais will mount on a Nikon mount. There are alot of photo websites that have information on the difference between the two series.

Hey guys,

ive tried doing a search. Im not getting a distinct answer.

So maybe some opinions from you will help.

I have just gotten a Bres and its on its way to Australia. I want to know with lenses if the quality is better with an AI or a Non-AI. I know they both fit the nikon mounts but does one have sharper images over the other. One cause vignetting and not the other.

Any advice would help.

Thanks guys.

No difference. It only has to do with light meter coupling in early Nikon's. There are some differences in the Nikkor lenses over the years but generally they are negligible.

Hey thanks for that,

I ended up with a Zeiss Planar ZF 50mm 1.4 off ebay. From what ive heard they are great lenses do I went that way.

Now I need to invest in a 28mm :) so much money!

We love our Zeiss lenses. The two biggest differences which you can see immediately relate to contrast and their very organic image. That said, any Nikon mount from new to very old will work with our Nikon mount on the adapter.

If you'd like to see a lower cost Nikon f1.8 compared to the Zeiss 50mm f1.4, you can check Cinevate's Video University and watch the clip entitled "The Brevis MP.1 Zeiss Lens Review and EX1 FIX Test Footage" The difference may not come across in the compressed web footage as well, but I can tell you that it's very surprising on the big screen. Apart from that, it's a hidden peak into the forbidden world of Cinevate's....uh, roof.

Cheers,
Dennis.
