Nikon 85 1.8 vs 80-200 2.8

Hello,

Because of the difference of light loss from lenses between 35mm adapters and regular use, I'm wondering if I actually need to purchase BOTH the Nikon 85mm 1.8 and the 80-200mm 2.8, or if just the zoom will suffice. I'm using an SGblade and HPX-170. Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks!

i find the zoom more useful, in the beginning i use to carry both the 85 and 80-200, but found out i didnt use the 85 so i left it out of the bag. The 80-200 is just more flexible. -the weight is the trade off. as its REAAALLLY heavy.

If you need a low light alternative to the 2.8 then spring for the dough and get the 1.4 for a few hundred more. A prime willl focus closer also. The 80-200 however is an incredibly sharp piece of glass.

Thanks for the replies!

Is there a huge difference between the AF-S and AF-D on the 80-200mm for 35mm adapter use? Both are internal zooming, right?

I'm not sure, i think only the silent wave motor is the difference, which wont mater to adapter users anyway. I have the D, I think the S version has a removable support bracket, mine isnt.
