Nikkon Lenses

I was planning to invest on Nikkor DX series lenses as I am planning to buy a 35mm adapter, most likely a brevis. I already have a D-80 Nikkon digital camera and I would like to use the lenses for both my HVX-200 with the brevis adapter and the D-80 camera.

Now I have read quite a lot about DX being a bad set of lens to use with these adapters. but then again I already have an 18-135mm DX lens. I just wanted to buy a wide 14mm and maybe another zoom lens 18-200mm.

I have about 3 grand to spend for the lenses. What Nikkor lenses would you guys recommend that will be best for both the adapter equiped HVX and the D-80 camera. I am looking for one set of 90 degree wide and another zoom lens possible 18-200mm with the least pissible light loss. Thanks a lot.

(True) Lenses for digital perform differently on a 35mm adapter than manual lenses as the sensors are of a different size. Search the forum for people's experiences with the varous adapter and lens combos. No easy answers on what will work best for each adapter, though. Plan to do a lot of adjusting, testing and really, really use time for setup. And consider if you really need an adapter. Try renting or lending one first. They can be great, but I find that I use mine (MPIC) for special purposes, not really for shallow DOF. That depends entirely on what you are doing. Also check this thread for nikon tests:

god luck

Try the 35mm adapter forum. This post is a little misplaced here since there's a lot written on lenses there. Good luck.

The Nikon lenses I chose for my Redrock M2 adapter are as follows.

28mm 2.8
50mm 1.4
85mm 1.8
70mm - 300mm zoom 4-5.6

just ordered the
80mm - 200mm zoom 2.8

I've had great luck with the lenses listed above. I tend to use the 50mm and 70-300 zoom more than the others (until my new zoom arrives), but they are all important tools to have IMHO. I would hold out on getting any of the cheaper lenses for the lower f stop versions if at all possible.
