Nightmares and Dreams

What was your worst one? Or at least worst one you can remember.

I just woke up from a nap where i was heading into an old barn and all of the people heads i knew rolls out from under the hay, and started whispering to me. I couldn't understand what they were saying, when they opened their mouths hay would start falling out and eventually all of the hay from everyone whispering drowned me and i woke up.

i woke up all sweaty and my heart was racing. And even though it doesn't sound that scary, every body knows how dreams amplify how terrifying something is.

Dreams
On a second note, everybody knows at least a couple of the methods of getting out of a dream.
Such as pinching your self awake (doesn't work to my knowledge) and realizing that it is all just a dream, and you are not in any danger what-so-ever.

Has anyone taken realizing your in a dream further?

When i was younger i was able to realize that i was in my own dream, and then i would take control of my dream and do what ever i wanted. Mostly childish things or things that i would never be able to do in the real world. (such as ask the girl out i had a crush on and give her a big smooch, haha)

But as the years went on, i am no longer able to do that. Has anybody else taken control of their dreams?

My worst nightmares passed when I was about 16. Rarely had any since. Maybe once a year. Mostly abstract stuff, distorting shapes and the like.

I have had some contol over my dreams but it's very, uncontrolable, and I usually wake up.

I do love my dreams though because I get to play with my dog again, say hi to dad, and hang with my ol girlfriend.

I did kill Micahel Jackson once. The sounds of crushing bone as I pummeled the smuck wasn't pretty, but it wasn't what I'd call a nightmare, haha. Good times indeed.

I've had 3 night terrors in my life and all 3 had spiders as the main subject.

I have been able to control parts of my dreams before however once I realize its a dream and “take control” I wake up because dreaming, sleep and actual conscious though don't mix in my feeble little head.

If I could control my dreams on any basic level, I'm sure I get more than 6 hours of sleep a night!!!!

There haven't been many nightmares that actually scared me, I thank all those early childhood years of watching horror movies for desensitizing me. The few that did scare me, were deeply disturbing on a personal level, and I won't go into those. The typical "scary monster ones" have been pretty creative though, and highly entertaining.

As far as dreams, one that still stands out occurred while I was suffering from a high fever and chills. I even wrote out a short story about it, called Quilt Wars. It's scary what a fever wracked mind will create.

After I got back into my faith, I stopped having nightmares. Dreams about things happening to my family are somewhat scary but personal nightmares simply don't really do it anymore. If it's spiritual I cast it out if it's physical I knock it on it's ass. Other times I simply make better decisions: If I'm on a ledge and about to fall I decide to pull myself up. If I do die in a dream, I make it point to come back to take down the person who killed me and I will take that person down. Not to mention I don't know if I even get enough sleep to dream. I dreamed last night and last week. Those are the only dreams I remember recently.

Dreams that stands out:

One time I dreamed I had become a necromancer and gained control over a bunch of zombies. After I made them get up from their resting places they turned on me and over took me. I woke up laughing as it was too silly to be scary.

One of my own character's tried to seduce me. I remembered what type of person she was and of course she was trying to get me killed, which backfired. When we got off the elevator the person she had working with her tried to inject me with some kind of poison so I used her to body block him and ran.

The Kitchen dancer. This chick was in my kitchen and in a very David Blainesque way wanted to show me something. (This could've went in many ways but noooo  ), she wanted to show my a silly dance. The upsetting part was that her reflection only smiled at me and stayed still. That one was kind of unsettling as I did want this person out of my house. Either way this will make it's way into a book or movie some day.

I was cursed in dream by a gyspy too.

I've had a recurring nightmare about a tornado all my life. It usually involves hiding in the basement to get away from it. Recently though I've had a recurring one about having killed someone and having to hide the evidence. I never know how I killed the person, they are just dead and I know I did it and I have to dispose of the body somehow.

I had night terrors extremely bad as a child. Most of which involed zombies and this old man with a beard and red eyes.

I had a terrible one last night. Again involving zombies. The first in a long time.

My daughter has them too.

I don't have good dreams that I can remember anyway.

When I was in my teens I kept having the same one over and over where I was in a doctor's office and he told me I was HIV postive. Scared the sh!t outta me. And this is why I haven't had unprotected sex with anyone but my wife since 1993 and I'm not kidding.

I'll be damned if a piece of ass is gonna put me in the ground.

Bad:

I had this when i was about 13.

I was in the back of a station wagon, and my little cousin was with me. i wanted him to open the door, and he wouldnt, so for some Bizarre reason i punched him viciously in the nose over and over... and he started crying. I woke up in tears and i have never felt so bad in my life. To this day i pray i never see that dream again....

Stop adding pictures! Wonderful, now I am going to dream about this stuff.

Thanks.

By the way, my worst dream ever was falling off a rope bridge over a really deep canyon. BS, to those that say you die if you hit the ground in you dream. I did. Still here. It was one of the VIVID dreams, and I remember thinking, "wow, shouldn't hitting the ground hurt more?" In my dream, I bounced twice, then realized I needed to be back up on the bridge.

my worst dream (that i recently remember) was i was in this white room, sealed off limited oxygen, and on each of the walls were candles, and the candles would burn away my oxygen, so every time i blew one out, another one ignited.

I have had a recurring nightmare for YEARS...in some manner or another, I am still in High School (I graduated in '89) and am being told that I can't graduate because I need to take just one more class...or I will need to stay back for another year etc.

Now, it doesn't sound scary but these dreams are pretty emotionally charged. I think its symbolic for feeling stuck, left behind, passed by and not nearly as accomplished in life as I think I should be. I have a lot of "dreams" (pun intended) that I have yet to follow 110% and because I let life get in the way....every so often this high school, left behind dream, rears its ugly head.

That's called Lucid Dreaming I believe. That is the way I dream about 50% of the time. Otherwise, I always dream that I have some kind of energy that comes from a triangular area on the palm of each hand. It is basically Telekenesis on roids. It acts like either a force of repulsion or attraction. I can move objects either away from me or to me, put them by my sides and use them as thrust to levitate, yank objects from across the room to me, and so on. Interesting part is there is a particular sensation I get when I use that energy in the back and center part of my brain that feels almost like flexing a muscle. Weird.

Yep, me too, but mine are about having to leave college without finishing my degree. I need a few more credits, or some required course that isn't offered, and I'm bang out of money and I have to quit school.... Got my Master's in '98 and still have this recurring nightmare.

Also being attacked and clawed-up by a roomful of raging hoarder cats. I volunteered for awhile at the local shelter, working with dogs, and they made me go on a hoarder bust.... Tigers, etc are okay but house cats creep me out bigtime, always have.

These pale next to the Post-Traumatic nightmares I have of my ex-step-father beating me with assorted items. I won't go into detail else I will dream this s#it again tonight.

Better to leave college and get shredded by feral cats.... Great thread. Now I need several :beer:s.

This would be really funny if you were married in the late 80's.

When I was a kid I had lucid dreams fairly often... it was always running at incredible speeds or flying or something like that. Check this out... in my entire life I've only had about a half dozen dreams involving sex, and of those, nothing ever "productive".

Last night I had one of the craziest dreams yet... we were looking up at the stars and I kept seeing UFOs and my brother and dad kept missing them... finally I convinced my brother to keep looking and not look away... then he saw one too... a few minutes later we saw a cluster of stars seem to break off the background and start coming at us, revealing a gigantic UFO... we ran in the house and watched as this giant ship got closer and closer until it was coming to a stop over our house... after that it got pretty intense as these guys that looked like the monsters from the D3 game came into the house and as everyone watched they all came to a stop looking at me... I walked out of the house followed by them and into this super bright light... there was a white platform that led out from our deck to a bigger white circle... as I walked out on it the edges of the circle started to morph up (like that crazy cornstarch science experiment) and the morphed shapes started to look like people surrounding me... then I heard a deep voice coming from the ship... bellowing through the neighborhood... and people were slowly coming out of their homes to see the spectacle... the real people were silent and the morphy-people were making crowd noises (with no mouths or facial features)... and the voice from above said...

[That's all you get]

After this the dream was about religion and philosophy... so that's as far as I'm taking it... but yeah, I have some really amazing dreams.

I dreamt my Son and I met God one night. He looked a lot like Charles Durning, tasteful pinstriped shirt, tie, Wire Rimmed glasses, and a short cropped beard. It was in a really office building, with polished Marble floors, and we must have walked through some mud before we went in, because we left muddy footprints all over the floor. Gods Assistant sort of chewed us out for it, and I apologized, and asked for a towel to clean it up. The Assistant gave me the towel, and as I started to wipe the mud up, God was there. He told me not to worry about it, and gave the towel to the assistant and told him to take care of it.

He invited us into his office, and it was amazing. It was like you knew there were walls, but it was like the room was cut out of nature, you could see the sky, the trees and plants, and animals. He sat down on a nice leather sofa, and invited us to join him. He started reading a newspaper, and it was like Harry Potter, the pictures were moving in real time.

Now, this was during the time we lived at THAT house, and I asked him what I should do about the Ghosts there, I was worried about my Family. He said I should contact some local Colleges, and see if they have a Parapsycology lab, they might be able to help. But then he says we can't just get rid of the Ghosts, because it might violate city ordinances.

I might have believed it was a Divine moment up to that point, but that just blew that out of the water.

lol. That and his leather couch I imagine. That'd be a little like God wearing a safari outfit with a giant moose head mounted on the wall.

Dude you beat me to it... that raised my eyebrow as well. I think God would do microfiber, or all wood furniture.
