Nightmare client

I've got a client who i worked with on a music video last year.

They decided to shoot in HD against my suggestion using NTSC equipment for their latest music video (with another production company), then they came to me wanting me to downgrade & convert the HD NTSC footage to PAL SD footage on miniDV.

I made them 5 copies of the video on miniDV tapes, brand new using my 2 week old HV30 camera.

They got back to me saying 3 didn't play correctly, so i did them another 3, and now apparently those 3 don't play correctly.

I've tried the tapes on 3 different miniDV players and they're fine on my equipment but they insist that they wont play on their miniDV camera & they sent a tape off to be transferred to BetaSP (i dont have BetaSP equipment) and apparently that doesn't play either.

I'm now at the point of suggesting they go elsewhere with their custom.

Should i stick to my guns and insist the tapes are fine, as they are on my 3 miniDV cameras?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Anyone has similar clients?

Maybe they really are having problems. Have you asked for details like what they're trying to play it back on? If you don't see a reason it wouldn't work, there's no problem telling them the truth- that the problem is on their end only. And yeah, these things happen. I've been pretty lucky for the most part to get clients who don't cause a lot of headaches.

I'm going to show them the tapes playing on all 3 of my cameras and have done with it. lol

O fcourse they play in your camera. They need something they can play. Either give em your camera or send em to a proper dub house.

But it's not my fault they are using dodgy equipment. My cameras are from 3 different brands. Canon, Sony & JVC.

You don't get a refund of petrol if your car happens to break down do you?

You can either help you client out or bag em here, man. I'm telling you how you can help them.

My client doesnt have the money for a proper dub house!

Anyways, it's sorted now. Thanks
