nightime city jells.

What gell number would you recomend using for outdoor nighttime in the city. Also what would you use for just normal nighttime?

Also what is the official term for black wrap? I cant find it anywhere. Im talking about the burn/melt proof black tin foil you put around the light to make a snoot or just style it.

poison sack? Stinger? huh?

you know this is the plot for a new film..........some really poisonous ants come down a mountain to a peacefull and perfect town.......chaos....but the best ant investigator is in the town on holidays and by using some rustic elments he manages to exterminate all the fire ants............and don't forget the romantic element that all these films have......the investigator marries the town major (the most beautiful woman in the town.......)......

that's it for today lets go to bed........here is late......

let's get back to the point.....
what do you mean about nighttime lighting, light of the moon? or the light that all the neon signs make in a city? because for nightime I usually just use a full ctb maybe with another half ctb to make the light cooler. earlier today i was looking through the lee filters sawtchbook that they very generously send you free, I found a specific gel for nightime, well I find a specific gel for everything..........

hope that helps

I once saw a gaffer using full CTO and 1/4 minus green (magenta) to simulate sodium vapor lamps.

For "Normal nighttime", I would say yes- a cool blue would work best. Either with HMI fixtures, or tungsten lights gelled to full blue. Also of importance is the angle of your light. High and backlit seems to be popular. Check the night scene in No Country for Old Men when Moss goes to check out the drug bust at night.
