Night shooting---need some input!

Hey DVX users! I know there are some very, very skilled users out there, so I am asking for some advice. The few times I've come here asking for tips, you guys have supplied some great advice! Hoping you can do so this time, too!

I am really a fish outta' water in terms of what I am going to ask. I've never done a night shoot before----we're shooting interior and exterior night shots. Everything I have done in the past has been daylight; normal lighting, etc.,. So here's my question:

Is there a filter kit for the DVX that will turn daylight into night? Any recommendations, suggestions, etc? I know if there is such, most likely I will want to make a lot of adjustments to gamma, camera settings, etc. in addition to using a filter? OR, maybe not?

OR, am I better off not relying on the camera for night FX and lighting the scene using various filters, etc.,.? I do have a lighting guy who is assisting my project; he has suggested a number of filters, and lighting this properly probably won't be an issue---I know we can get it perfect. BUT, I thought I would throw it out there to some of our more veteran users on here and see what your take is. Maybe there's an easier way?

I'm all ears----dying to hear what you guys think!

THANKS SO MUCH, in advance, for your help and guidance!

Best,
RK

forgot to mention.....

forgot to mention.....

ALSO, I forgot to mention in my previous post: I've been doing a lot of reading about Tiffen's Cool Day For Night filter as well as several others that they make. Anyone worked with these filters? Any advice? Do they work as well as they claim?

You don't need to do filters, although you can (cool blues work nicely) or you can WB to a blue card.

The easiest way to get this effect is to simply do it in post.

Hmmm? Wouldn't that make your shot warmer (more reddish)? Shouldn't you WB to something "warm" to get a blue cast?

Or am I totally confused.

Yes, white balance on something orangish to get a cooler look. Opposite colors
