Nice depth of field with NO 35mm adapter

What you will come to realise is that zooming in all of the way with your camera is going ot limit you in your future projects. Not only is it not practical, but you are forcing yourself to use the same focal length all the time. What happens is space is tight and you cannot throw the camera back 10 feet to frame?
 
Yes, whilst using zoom to compress/squash the image will make the depth of field more evident on a video sensor, it by no means can be compared to the depth of field of film, or adapter ('film'). Eg: you can still easily identify the background (or out of focus areas) on all those shots... can distract pending intent/direction of shot.
It does give a little taste away from deep focus 'regular' video though :)
