NFL Game Fox Cameraman - Who Where These People with him?

I'm watching the 49ers/Lions game. The action came to the sideline right to a Fox cameraman with his camera on a tripod at ground level. The action gets too close and so he got up off his knees and grabbed the camera and backed away. Behind him was a man and woman with green Fox vests. She had a satchel. He had nothing. Neither was wearing headsets. The camera was wireless or not live (no cables). The people with him did not assist him in getting out of the way. It seemed he decided on his own (and it was almost the last second) of when to get out of the way.

What was the two people's purpose? I figure you know, RunNGun.

Impossible to really know without seeing/knowing more. But these days there are usually a few hundred production people on the field from various departments and even companies.

I was on NFL sidelines very early in my career (super young) and had a red vest (photographer) but just carried lenses for a guy.

Today, there is tons of content being made from everything before, during and after the game (not including all the crazy production they do throughout the weeks/months leading up to everything).

Probably one of the ENG/Feature guys, although occasionally I do see some live guys shooting off of a hi-hat. I saw the play that you're referring to, but I didn't get a good look to see if I knew who it was. Those particular green vests(darker green with FOX splashed on the front and back) are a lot of times 'non-live'* personnel or utility types.

*Can be sort of confusing, as they may be part of the actual game broadcast crew or for pre or post or ENG.

But the actual NFL sidelines vests are color coded and easy to see who's who. Red is Live Broadcast, Blue is NFL Films, Black is Team Media and Brown is Regular Media.

It just seemed odd that these two people were so 'attached' to the cameraman, but seemed to have no function. Feature producer maybe? I thought maybe one of them was there to keep an eye on things the cameraman could not see in the viewfinder and tell him to get out of the way. But they didn't do that.
