NFL 2007-2008 Thread

When I looked at the stats for the last time the Chargers played the Colts, Manning threw 6 INT's and San Diego still had a tough time beating them and the Colts just barely lost too. So yeah, I gotta agree the Chargers are in tough (I'd love to see them knock of Indy though).

Eli Manning will never amount to what Peyton is, there's no debating that. What Eli lacks I think is confidence. He seems really timid out there, he's not quick on his feet, he can't scramble, takes a lot of sacks, forces the ball when he should throw it away and his TD/INT ratio since he's been in the league sucks, 23.5 TD - 18.5 INT per season. The past three games has a been a different story though, he seems to be playing a smarter game and looks somewhat relaxed. He does have more game expierence than Romo, but if I was to judge who's the better quarterback at this point in their career, I'd have to go with Romo (althought it's only been a season and half). From what happened last year with Romo botching the snap, it leads me to believe that he's probably going to be scared to make a mistake and it may weigh on him during the game if he makes one early. Since TO has been out Romo hasn't looked that good at all and TO is questionable as of now. I think this game will be closer than expected and the Giants may squeak by.

Seattle Vs Green Bay
Jacksonville Vs New England
NY Giants Vs Dallas
San Diego Vs Indianapolis
 
Yeah, I know its a gamble going with Seattle given their track record in Green Bay, thought I'd try and make things a bit interesting.
 
Seattle tanked. Again, the guy who signed the $62mil contract, Shaun Alexander was a bust for Seattle. Congrats to the Pack though. I'll be pulling for them next week.

The NE-Jax game looks like it should be a slugfest. The "best" team, versus arguably the toughest team.
 
Congrats to Norv Turner and the SD Chargers. Weeks ago I was one of the people criticizing them for firing Marty Schottenheimer and hiring Turner, but Norv won where Marty couldn't. And with a depleted team, they upended the defending champs. Kudos.
 
Man, that shocked the crap out of me. Even when the Colts were going for it on fourth, I just KNEW they would pull it out.

Now, let's see if Peyton's little brother could do what he couldn't...
 
what a horrible time to be a colts fan living in san diego. colts shirts and flags have been ripped down and thrown to the back of the closet
 
Great win for the Giants. Eli played well enough, but really it was their defense that held up when they needed to. There will be criticism in Dallas, but don't blame it on Tony Romo. His line couldn't protect him when he needed it most, and TO didn't get open.

Celebration will soon be over though I fear, as I can't see even a healthy SD winning in NE, and the Giants road is likely to end in cold Green Bay.
 
Another game in Title Town. :-)

The Cowboys were fading in the last 3 or 4 games while the Giants were playing well.

I love the Packs chances for going to the superbowl. They are looking more like the 95/96/97 Pack than ever. Grant is a lightning rod and a difference maker.

True enough, but as the team leader I would have liked to have seen Romo keep his cool and calm his team down.
 
I knew the Cowboys wouldn't win against the Giants.

I'm glad we don't have to face the Colts now, both teams beat the hell outta of each other too, I wonder if Rivers will start. Doesn't Rivers come off as an arrogant dick though? I'm all for competive spirit and all but chirping fans just seems really juvenille to me.
 
You know, Rivers never struck me that way before, but he really did come off like you said yesterday, jabbering at the Indy fans and all. Every pro knows you don't do that. The game is for the fans who pay to watch you play, and if the other team's fans yell at you, you just ignore them and play. And the Indy fans seem pretty civil. Imagine if he were in Oakland? Let's hope he can keep his cool and just play like he has in the past, as he can be quite good.

Everytime a player went down I can't say I was disapointed to see it.

Yeah, Rivers never really came off to me like that before until a couple of weeks ago when I saw him freaking out on the sidelines at LT, I really hate guys like that and yesterday was just pathetic, absolutely no need of that, as you said the fans pay to watch them play, being a dick to fans isn't in the job description. The guy has some growing up to do.

Who would have thought that Billy Volick would put together a game winning drive against the Colts.

Also, San Diego got robbed by the refs yesterday, that was one of the poorest officiated games I've seen since the New England Vs Colts game earlier in the season, a couple of phantom pass interference calls. They still won so no harm I guess.

The Pats looked good on Saturday night, that fake statue of liberty play was pretty cool. I'm not ashamed to say this but I got a huge man crush on Tom Brady :) , I mean c'mon can there be a more cooler guy? Go Pats.
 
Well, well, well....Favre just one game away from going to the big dance. Good for him. I'm sure most everybody will be rooting for him...
