Newsreels - Help

[tumbleweed]

I'm producing my first documentary and I'm looking for help regarding where/how to find newreels. I'm specifically looking for footage of the Negro Baseball Leagues from the 30's, 40's & 50's. All leads are greatly appreciated.

thanks

Ken Burns did a major doc on baseball which included much of the material you are seeking. Why not contact his production company and find out where they got all of their info.

I know a source firsthand that has an incredible still collection that the Smithsonian was dearly interested in. Unfortunately, the source is declining to sell at this time. The source has correspondence, pay records, uniforms, gloves, etc, too wild to imagine, even letters that will rewrite baseball history itself, including how a Hispanic is responsible for the signing of some long dead well known White baseball players.

from info in the previous posts, I'd just rent Ken Burns Baseball doc or look for a related website and glean info from the credits.

good luck. great topic that deserves much more attention.
