IMAGEN Films NEWSLETTER

Hello everyone.  It’s been a while since we’ve sent out an update on what is going on at IMAGEN Films.  But here is some updated info for you!

IMAGEN Films.com Update
A MAJOR update is due for http://www.imagenfilms.com.  That includes NEWS, PRE-PRODUCTION Projects, POSTERS, etc...

New “got milk?” Trailer
We’ve posted a 40 second trailer for “got milk?” on the website.  There is a link on the first page you see at http://www.imagenfilms.com

“got milk?” Website Coming Soon
In an effort to streamline our IMAGEN Films website, “got milk?” will be moved from that website and will have its own home at www.gotmilkthemovie.com.  Most likely to come out in August.

Meeting with VP of NEW LINE CINEMA
Two weeks ago, Marty Martin and James Mäki travelled down to California to meet with the Vice President of New Line Cinema.  They had an unprecedented hour long meeting with him in which they were able to discuss film ideas and the direction they wanted IMAGEN Films to go in.  The outcome?  No signed contracts yet!  But an open door to meet with the VP at any time and the commitment to read through any of our future scripts in person with us.  Also, once we have that dynamite script for them, the promise to pull Marty Martin on board to direct it.  Although the meeting was an unheard of hour long, the VP even offered at the end to meet with them one more time before they left.

Creative Screenwriting Magazine & IMAGEN Films
Creative Screenwriting Magazine met with Marty and James on the same trip, in which they discussed the possibility of providing a budget to reshoot “got milk?”.  As things progressed the decision came to move forward and get “got milk?” ready for Sundance.  Being that the submission date is September 24th, that left only three months for pre-production, production, and post-production.

Realistically, two months minimum would be required for pre-production.  Many locations need to be shot, and many actors pulled on board.

Production would require an intense month and a half to shoot.

And post-production would be insane.  “got milk?” isn’t your typical “indie” film.  It is a dark comedy with elements of action, and Marty didn’t want to remove the action and special effects simply to get it done in a short timeframe or on a lower-budget.  He wanted to prove that it could be done.  Editing would begin during the shoot, which would save time.  But special effects are another thing.  IMAGEN Films would need to create a CG division with highly skilled CG artists to pull off large-scale special effects shots.  The goal would be to rival big-budget films.  The catch?  It would require approximately two to three months to do the shots.  That means four to six months total for a full production on “got milk?”

The decision was made as of Wednesday July 7th to push back the film.  For all of those who were interested in working on the production this summer, we apologize.  But the project will go underway and you will be made aware of it when we decide to go full throttle.  Please continue to check back with us!

Although we are pushing it back, it will be done!  Now, the question is what to submit to Sundance.  We have several options, and something will get there.

Film In Pre-Production
Creative Screenwriting has also expressed interest in several other films that IMAGEN Films is working on.  And one is currently in pre-production!  We cannot say which one it is.  And we can’t say whether it is one that we’ve put up a poster for on the website or not.  What we can say is that this film has the potential to be wonderful and is a complete deviation from what we’ve been doing on “got milk?”.

Fueled Productions
IMAGEN Films has teamed up with Fueled Productions, LLC to shoot and edit commercials, as well as shoot a short film for them later this summer and put together their film FUELED; an extreme sports film about cars.  This work will give us a diverse work environment, always keeping us on our toes.

Music Video
Marty Martin will be filming and directing the first music video for Seattle's 2003 Best New Album Award winners "The Blue Scholars".  Shooting begins at the end of July!

Well that’s it for now.  All of this and more can be found on www.imagenfilms.com come the end of the month.  So check the website for the new trailer NOW and check back in three weeks for major updates!
