Newbie with a DVX 100B - Tapes/Mic/Light questions

I just got a DVX 100B for indie film/skit/other stuff. The dealer said if I start using one kind of tape, I should continue to use that type.

My question is, does it make a difference if I order the Master tapes (which I can only order through the dealer, and are $1 extra per tape) or if I stick with something I can buy from Wal-Mart. Is it worth the extra $1 and slight hassle of ordering through the dealer? What's the difference?

Also, I'm trying to get a ME-66 with K6 for around $465 from the dealer. ME-66 sounds hot. Yes yes?

For lighting, I was thinking I'd just get a light stand and browse cheap do-it-yourself info online and end up buying some lights from Home Depot. I want to do mad low budget filming of short films.

So far, these items will make up my setup for 2006. I edit with Premiere Pro 1.5 on a Dell XPS. Any suggestions/comments?

Thanks

I think the reason that they tell you to stick with one type of tape is so that you don't mix lubricants and clog the heads. My dealer said I can mix the master and the professional tapes from panasonic with no problems. So far after a year and a half, I have had no problems.

I would NOT use any tapes from walmart. Sony, for one uses a lube that is not cool. Stick with MQ and PQ and you will be fine. Not that much more $ and you will be safe

ME-66 is a very popular Mic

Check out the lighting section. Using home made lights can be a problem. They run super hot for one. I tried that route before and they toss off a nasty color too. Real lighting [cheap brands] can be pretty inexpensive too.
