am having a codec problem. I downloaded a bunch of codec's (divx etc..) and i do not see them under my "render as..." option. Any idea's why they are not there, or how i can get them so i can use them to render?

Most codecs do not show up in and of themselves. They often will come up as "format" options for .avi, Quicktime, etc..

ok. i will try that, but can you also recommend some codecs?

Also, where is "Format"?

I click "Render as.." "save as type", click a type then do i goto custom and tweek it, or can i just select a type?

Or does the download modify it and make it better?

Go into Custom, then the Video tab. It's called different things for different file types, but you should find a button to let you choose your codec.

Don't know if you'll have an option to encode in DivX, though.

well i have to choose a codec first, so it only has options for that codec, example: Windows media 9 codec only has things to do with that codec, Doesnt divx has its whole own coding for its rendering?

Here's what I'm talking about.

Under .avi file type, go to "custom" and then the "video" tab. You'll find this dialogue box; I've indicated the drop-down.

A ha! there it is! Thanks for the help, thanks alot!

Also, What codec do you use? divX?

And where can i learn about these compition's like "sci-fest" and what do i need to have to enter them?

If you're rendering for the net, just stick with the tried & true, as well as the most common: QT 6 or 7 and WMV 9.
