Okidokes...the past 2 projects i have shot have been on the 7d and zoomh4n. now its editing time. I need to find a way to sync all the clips i need synced first before i start acutally cutting. I see that i can sync them on the timeline by lining up the clips...and unlinking the camera audio and relinking the h4n audio...but thats just on the timeline. Does this save it in the Bin? I would like all the clips sycned in the bin so i dont have to worry about that again and can concentrate on editing. So just looking for a streamed line workflow .I use PPcs5

For each clip you will create a new sequence with the camera video+audio, and the addition of your Z4n audio. Turn off the camera original audio, or unlink and delete, once you have synchronized the H4n audio, and then lock the H4n audio to the video.

You would then use that paired up sequence for further editing.

CS5.5 just out has mention of a 'merge clip feature', which seems to allow for a video track and several audio tracks to be 'bound' in to the same clip, and processed as a clip, rather than a sequence... I don't think this was part of CS5...

But the process appears to be as I described above.

There are a couple of 'sync' tools that I've seen mention of in the various fora, but since I don't have those... I resort to the manual method...

thanks Jclarke , I appreciate it.Wow...is this the only way of syncing manually? Seems at bit much to have to create so many sequences. its a bit backward to think premiere has no way of just replacing the audio in a clip with another audio source...as one would do if you replace footage.

Just checked...the adobe site for a recent update the newest Premeir update is 5.0.3 which i have.you sure there's a .5 ?

CS5 does not have a way to sync clips in the bin or Source Monitor. CS5.5 does have this feature, and is due out in just a couple of weeks.

The CS 5.5 trial now has full codec support, meaning you can try any camera media without limitation for 30 days before buying.

thanks Guys. Its off the some tedious ass work then :)

mmm...maybe i'll look into plural eyes. I have no prob manually syncing if it was more efficient. ah well.

This is not an 'update' but a new release, rather than waiting for 6 months to a year for a CS 6... Premiere and After Effects are affected by the 5.5, with enhancements such as the 'merge' I mentioned. The other addition to the CS 5.5 Production Premium bundle is Audition, which looks to be a better sound editor tool than Sound Booth... Audition has been around for a while, but now they are packaging it witht he Production Premium...

Yet another way to get at your money...

yeh...i search and saw its a whole new deal with cs5.5. Thats pretty f...ed up if u ask me. anyway thanks for the advice.

It's a new version, with new features that just happen to benefit your work flow. So it's not surprising that you need to pay money for it. This is pretty standard in the software world. I mean, if you have QuickBooks 2010 and you want the new features of QuickBooks 2011, you pay for them.
