newbie question..how do i get virtual dub to recognize shortened .veg clips in vegas

i am cutting clips of avi files from cineform neoscene. how do i get virutal dub to recognize the .veg files..i have windows 7 64bit i7930, fairly good computer just purchased, downloaded 32 bit virutal dub and deshaker, have a trouble ticket into cineform, just frustrated. want to deshake clips. bill

i am finding that out. so what do i save the file as in vegas 9 so virtual dub will recognize. not that all capture from hdv and avchd was done in cineform neoscene, and virtual dub 32 bit installed doesnt recoginze them.

with a cineform avi file..here is the reading error when i open up the file.."COULDNT LOCATE DECOMPRESSOR FOR FORMAT 'CFHD' (UNKNOWN) . VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatable decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable." I am using deinerlaced 60 i when i shot with both the canon xha1 hdv, and the more recent avchd canon sfh100 converted to avi. Please help...bill

First of all, what you are trying to do shouldn't involve Vegas at all. You should just be loading up the avi files directly in Virtualdub.

Secondly, while that seems to be what you are trying to do and it's not working, it should work, as Cineform is a standard VFW codec, which Virtualdub wants.

A quick Google search shows that people are successfully loading Cineform avi files in Virtualdub, and Cineform's website says that is compatible.

So, try reinstalling Neoscene, and if that doesn't fix it, waiting for a response to your trouble ticket with Cineform, or searching and/or posting on their forums will be your best bet.
