Newbie puzzled about exporting

It seems there are many different methods to render out footage. I'm shooting with a panasonic dvx100b and am going to make a DVD for a marketing tool. I've tried several exporting options but some come out HUGE files and others, the qulality is awful. What exporting options should I use? I'll also be working in after effects. Is it better to export the files in after effects or premiere?

For DVD, try Adobe Media Encoder in premiere, MPEG-2DVD preset. Just make sure to go into turn on multiplexing in one of the sub menu.

what do you consider huge? Are you using encore to make your DVD? I have fit about 2 hours and 10 minutes onto a single DVD with not knocking the bitrate down too much, so I don't know how large your project is. If you want to export for web, I recommend getting quicktime pro, they seem to put out the cleanest encoding.
