Hello all,
I'm new to the DVX, I just bought a 100b. I use Sony Vegas to edit and have a question regarding frame rate. The manual says that 30p gives the best picture and that 24p shows image quality loss, with 24pa in between. As the image quality loss appears to be due to the partial frames, is removing them and using a 23.98 timeline the answer to shooting 24pa and having the same picture quality as 30p? Would the progressive footage with the 23.98 timeline work with a dvd to be played on a television? (NTSC) Is removing the partial frames possible in Sony Vegas? (newest version)
I haven't been able to find answers addressing these specific questions, most of what I see says to shoot in 24p but I also want the best possible picture quality.
Thanks in advance for any clarification.

You misread the manual. 24pA and 30p give comparable image quality in term of resolution, but 24p normal will have a slight quality loss vs. 24pA because of the different pulldown pattern that's applied. Shoot 24pA and edit in a 24p timeline, Vegas will automatically detect and remove the pulldown frames.

Thank you for the quick response. The manual says that 24pa has less image degredation due to it's advanced pull down, leading me to believe there is still image degredation, just not as much as 24p normal. One more question and I'm going to go shoot some movies...will a project shot in 24pa and edited in a 23.98 timeline look good on TV? I'm not sure about how the TV changes it from progressive to interlaced...or am I misunderstanding what happens?
