Newbie light & mike questions

Hey folks.

I'm a newbie, sort of. I learned to shoot using betacam equipment, but until I bought my new DVX, I hadn't picked up a video camera in about 15 years. Between my bad memory and the fact that technology has changed a lot, I'm confused about some hardware issues. I have two specific questions:

1. I was going to buy the Bescor on camera light listed on the B&H site at http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=WishList.jsp&A=details&Q=&sku=145143&is=REG but my friend said maybe I shouldn't. He doesn't like on cam lights in general, but even if I'm buying one, he said "I don't know that market, But I would think you would want to run a light off a battery other than your camera battery--- small wattage, very low key fill type light." So what would experienced DVX users recommend for quick and dirty on camera lighting when I don't have time to set up something nicer/prettier? And what's the best way to deal with the battery issue?

2. I bought the TRAM TR50 lavalier mike from B&H (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=258077&is=REG&addedTroughType=search)

It's a wired lav, and I've quickly realized that I'm going to want wireless capability. I don't think they even had wireless when I was shooting 15 years ago. Do I need to get a whole new lavalier mike, or is there some kind of wireless receiver that will work with both the DVX and the TR50?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Craig
