Newb question: extra files appear

So I export mpegdvds, and when I do I get extra files like xmpses, sfk files, do I need to save these or can I just delete them?

They are external metadata files. You can delete them, but other adobe apps will have less metadata to work with when importing them. They are small, and are worth keeping IMO.
