New Website Feedback

Hi Guys,

I've just completely re-done my website, and was hoping to get a bit of feedback on it. I'm quite happy with as is, but I'm a little worried that the project slideshows on my 'FILMS' and 'COMMERCIALS' pages might be taking a bit too long to load.

If anyone's able to quickly check it out and let me know how well it's loading for you, I'd really appreciate it.

Cheers,

it loads fine for me, but my connection speed is 125 mbps, which is probably faster than what most people have.

cinematography | lighting | production look like they should be links, but nothing happens when you click on them.

the links for "showreel" and "films" are a bit hard to see with the white text against the sun peeking through the clouds. in dark areas i can read the text fine, but whenever i scroll up and it goes past the light areas, it's hard to read.

you have some really nice images in your showreel, but whenever i hear a well known song i start focusing on the music more than the video.

Hmm... yeah it's gone down completely now. I'll call the hosting provider. Thanks guys.

Hi guys, it's back up and running properly now (or at least seems to be), I'd be keen to hear your thoughts.

Cheers

My only negative comment is that the pictures load in reverse order for me on the films and commercials pages (tested on Firefox and Chrome), so on first visiting the page it appears for a while that there are no pictures.

Thanks guys. Mike, I noticed the same thing. The web guys are looking into it, fingers crossed they can reverse it.

If you're about updating your site for 2015, you might want to take a serious look at how it looks and behaves on your phone.

What do you think needs improvement for mobile devices? The site has a 'mobile-ready' version, but I've disabled it for the time being since it kinda complicates the navigation (which I think works quite nicely at the moment) with a menu button and drop-down navigation.

No actual video samples on your commercial page? Or am I missing something? The stills are nice, but wouldn't you want video if that is your forte?

Yeah, it's frustrating, I'm working on permissions for showing actual clips. Things are further complicated by most of them being hosted in god-awful quality on Youtube (I'm trying to secure permission to re-host them on Vimeo).

Until I can show them the way they're intended to be seen, I'd rather just have decent quality stills. But it is a bugger.
