New VASST DVD's

Re: New VASST DVD's

Yes but if you can't to the training sessions, the DVD's are next best thing. I have ordred the "Now Hear This" and can't wait to get it.  It will ship in August too like the others.  I also plant to pruchase The Vegas Training set when I have the cash.

Re: New VASST DVD's

I know you won't find many out there that have found any of the Vegas training tools a waste of time or money. The new VASST DVD's are quite the step up in quality over most training materials out there. The perk to anything done by anyone else is seeing where their workflow differs from yours. Just this alone may save you time if you find a faster, more efficient way around something.

Hey donp326,

How did you preorder the Now Hear This dvd? I didn't see an order button for that one and my emails to Sundance Media Group have gone unanswered.

Thanks

Philip, when I ordered it in late June it did have "buy" button. Maybe because they may be processing pre orders now VASST has shut off the ability to purcase the DVD. That's just a guess on my part. Try going to the VASST website

www.vasst.com/aboutus.htm and try to contact Douglas Spotted Eagle or the DMN forum where he is a moderator and see if he can answer you inquirery.

OK. Maybe not a waste, as such.

However, I just got the Vegas 5 Fasst DVD and...well...it leaves a lot to be desired.

It's basically a tour of Vegas...looking like it was shot by aiming a camera at a laptop and hoping for the best. All the nice explanations about the menu items and such...they'd be more useful if you could actually read the menus being shown.

Likewise bits about 'see how the cursor change when you put it here...' Well, no, I can't see how it changes. It's still a fuzzy little blob.

And when he talks while some audio is being played, you can't hear him over it.

It would have been nice if the network rendering worked, rather than being told he couldn't show it because his network sucks. :)

Luckily, I've been messing around with Vegas quite a bit, so I know what I'm supposed to be seeing. Not a complete waste of time and money for me. I'd imagine someone completely unfamiliar with the program would be less happy.

Re: New VASST DVD's

I had the same feelings about the VASST Acid DVD. I bought it when I attended one of the VASST Vegas seminars, which impressed me.

The DVD was like watching someone read a reference guide. I was expecting some follow-along type of instructions, like maybe we could actually use the same loops as the instructor and follow along as he went through the different steps.

Instead, far too much time was wasted showing what was on each of the menus (pulled down the File menu and Edit menu and actually explained where the Save, Save As, Copy, and other commands are). Don't show me where things are. Show me how to use them.

Maybe the last part of the DVD is better, but I wouldn't know because I got so frustrated with the first 2/3 that I haven't finished it yet. (My frustration may have something to do with the fact that I didn't get the loops or free version of Acid with the DVD as promised. After much emailing, I got them two months later.)

Maybe after I get more familiar with Acid, I may change my mind, but right now, I wish I would've saved my money.

Re: New VASST DVD's

So if these new VASST DVD's leave much to be desired then what, if any, good training videos exisit for Vegas 4.0-5.0?
