New Username/Website name needed

Hey everyone,

I am going to be on the job hunt soon, and something that occured to me was, "I need a better online handle"

Now, TheAmazingShane is fine for some online stuff, but maybe a little arrogant for professional things?

I would be using this name for things like, a personal demo page, usernames for sites like about.me....

My last name is too long and difficult to spell so I am turning to the community for help.

Skills to work off of: Video editing, motion graphics, graphic design, audio recording/boom op, Videographer.

I would like to keep my first name in it, but without sounding too....self centered?

Some examples I've tossed around: TeleShane...ShaneMedia....I'm out.

Any thoughts?

If you are wanting to advertise yourself, why not your real name? Difficult to spell, even for you, the owner of that name?

Use your real name and shorten the surname on your email address/webpage if you think its going to be hard to find. That said, most directories and search engines manage just fine with just the first three or four letters.

Well, it's Stefanchik, and people tend to misspell it constantly. They always want to add a "c" in the chik part.

So what would you recommend?

Not that difficult. And it's up to you to make that a household name. If you hide it, no one will know it.

There's a body builder/actor/politician you may have heard of, who has a "difficult to spell" name: Arnold Schwarzenegger.

I know a lot of shooters using first and middle name.

So if you were an famous actor:

Philip Seymour Hoffman would just be Philip Seymor.

Come up with a company name that does not include your name and don't worry about it. Use your real name on sites like DVXuser and make your email address firstname@yourcompany.com.

Awesome input! I appreciate every response!

Yeah, my thought was that for a portfolio website ShaneStefanchik .com would be too hard to spell, but I guess I'd be e-mailing it most of the time anyways.
