New User Questions - Appreciate some help!!!

Hi,
I'm new to this board and also new to Vegas 5. I hope you can help with these questions:

1. If I am using different apps to work on different segments of video (AE6.5, PPro1.5), what is the best format to swap these files without losing quality? I plan to assemble them finally in Vegas. I am guessing .avi, but I have read that mpeg 2 is the way to go. Also, what compression is the best?

2. Is there a way to adjust the left/right arrow keys so that they advance/rewind by each frame. Currently, I can only get it to advance/rewind by 3 or 4 frames.

3. Is there a way to group track motion events with the actual video clips? Whenever I move the clips left or right, the track motion events stay stationary. I hope this is possible, or it is something that needs to be improved.

Vegas 5 is great. Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Re: New User Questions - Appreciate some help!!!

well...

1) I would say Avi is your best bet (uncompressed would be even better); certainly not mpeg...
2) I don't have Vegas with me here, but if I remember correctly, you can move on a fram-by-frame basis by pressing "alt"+arrow left or right..Alternatively if you zoom in (mouse wheel or "+" symbol by the horizontal scroll bar on the timeline) to frame view level the arrow keys will move on a fram-by frame basis aswell. Or invest in a Contour Shuttle pro...
3) Don't really know the answer to this one: would have to check with vegas help etc...

hope that helps,

Paul.

Use the "Lock Envelopes to Events". (It's a button. looks like a lock with key points above it)
