New user on Mac - how to back-up

Hi all,

I finally just made the step to Mac with Final Cut Studio; a brand new Mac Pro powerhouse :) Since I am new to the whole platform I'm out now discovering the whole system and love it so far. Most things are easy to figure out or can be found in the manual. One thing however I have not succeeded in yet, I hope someone can help me out:

We have two 500 GB hard disks to start out with, and we wish to use one as a complete backupdrive for the first one (especially for Final Cut Pro). We have no clue however how to set this up. Do we need extra software for this, or can we simply make this an automatic feature somewhere in the setting with the Finder?

Thanks in advance for your help!

If you have two identical drives you could RAID 1 them. other wise use SuperDuper! It's free and will backup an entire drive, and can create bootable partitions, but I think you need to pay for it to be an automatic/scheduled processes... Other wise just remember to do it..

I saw something in the store today called MAC BACK UP or something like that...it was $29.99. Not sure if that is what you would need for what your trying to do.

We'll take a look at SuperDuper then. I thought maybe there would be some standard tool to backup or anything.

Thanks!
