new TV as second monitor

I wonder if anyone could tell me how I would go about setting up and connecting a new 26-inch TV I just bought as a second monitor for editing FCS2. Specifically, what cable would I need to buy for my PowerMac G5 (non Intel) to connect to the TV which has both HDMI and component connections. I would like to use the TV as one of the dual monitors along with my computer display.

Any help appreciated! I've never used dual monitors for editing Final Cut and I'd love to be able to do so!

If your G5 has a DVI digital output on it for a second monitor you can get a DVI to HDMI adapter cable and hook it up that way. If there is only analog VGA type outputs on your G5, does the TV have an analog VGA PC input? The 3-wire component input on the TV will probably not work for this without a rather expensive interface.

Thanks for the prompt reply! I do have an analog VGA (PC) input on the TV. Not sure if I have an extra DVI output on my G5. Would like to do DVI to HDMI if possible but someone told me there's a sound lag with that. Could you tell me, is there anything I should look out for as far as setting up dual monitors in Final Cut?
