Hello Listers,
I am building a dolly track system. I am using 1 1/4: sch40 aluminum pipe and Speedrail fittings. Used on the ground, the tracks can be used with my Kessler K-Pod and their very nice trolly cars they build. I also envision being able to mount the track, as a frame assembly, on a C-Stands or other above the ground objects. For this, I will be building a platform with skateboard cars and a hi-hat for a fluid head.
Now the question: I'd like to have some kind of brake for the platform. The mechanism will probable need to reach under and grab the pipe from below. It would preferably be easy and quiet in case it was actuated mid-clip, but that may be asking too much. At the very least, I want a brake so I can shoot with the dolly platform stable and not wanting to roll away while panning. I was thinking some type of grabber with a cam-lok arrangement through the platform. Any thoughts on this scheme, or some other brilliant idea would be appreciated.
