New to this- need help with audio settings

I am stumped on how to set up the audio? I've read dozens of posts but I get more confused.

Right now I have my external mic connected to input two, ch1 and ch2 set to input two and mic power on. In the menu Mic alc is on and gain is 60/60. And thats all I can find on the camera

I've read that there's allot of functions but I cant find them.

I'd appreciate some recommendations on how to set this thing up.
 
Uhhhhh - what camera?

"External Mic" doesn't say much either - More details of the situation would give more info to work with to those who might be able to help you. Remember the reporter's guidelines of Who, What, When, When, Where, How, and Why.

Sounds like you have a DVX100.

You settings are correct for going straight into camera. The gain setting is the only variable (50 or 60) and that depends on your mic.

Not sure what else you are asking.
 
Sorry ,It was late when I wrote this

I have a dvx100a and am using an Octava mic.

I wanted to find out what settings you recommend- mainly the external mic input- either input 1 or input 2(with channel 1 and 2 on)
