I am looking for the best lighting kit within the $500-$1000 price range. I am not a professional and only a student, but I at least want to start off with something pretty good in that price range, with hope to grow in the future. I have been reading a lot and to my understanding DSLRS require different kind of lighting?

Please help me out

This Smith Vector kit is great place to start. It's cheap and packs a punch. Replacement bulbs are also more affordable with these lights.

These lights do not have barn doors, but that's ok. You can flag them instead using three of these clamps and a few pieces of black foam core from Hobby Lobby. This method of shaping light works best imo anyway.
