New to DVX & Films

Hi All,
I'm brand new to the scene, both DVX site and making/writing screenplays. Any tips or other advice would be great. I have a short already (I don't care for the script, was kinda thrown together on a short notice) but still this is my first ever attempt to write/direct/edit with a fellow DVXer. Go watch and leave me some positive words for me please. Dear Mr. Smith.

Well I'm currently working on another script, I'll have more info on that later.

:)

Uhhh there's no ending, "yay daddy" got on my nerves (both times) and I thought his sister was asking him about something else, if you know what I mean.

Good first effort though, better than mine six years ago--any copy of that short I find I will burn.

Yeah I'm not to trilled about the final outcome, but that is what happens when you're pressed for time. I should have finished the story...but thats the story of my life...always unfinished...LOL

there was a couple of continuity errors when the dad walks to the dining room. since you cant really see the dad say his name try editing it so the dad is cut before he goes out the door.

Good image quality, and great sound, the narrative was nervous and abrupt...pulled me away a little.

Are using exsiting mic's on the dvx or is that a outside mic lined into the camera.

thanks...fellow dvx rookie...good luck

dickie flicks

Good job. Cast was great. Try to use them again in your future productions. If I might make a suggestion, you could tack on an ending of the son finger painting a message to his dad on the fence. Good luck.

had to watch it without sound (people are sleeping)

i like the look of the footage (that shot of the dad looking through the blinds is really nice)

i have to say (although i watched it without sound, so it's hard for me to judge the full extent to which it would have annoyed me) i HATE blupers
i mean it's alright if it's Jackie Chan stuffing up a really complicated stunt, but as a general rule, watching actors you've never seen b4 stuff up is really lame IMO

but that's just my opinion, and it didn't annoy me cause i watched it without sound (but i'm sure it would have)

not trying to be mean, if i don't like blupers, i'm sure there's other people that don't them either so it's something to consider for future projects (but then again i'm sure some people like em so...)

i think that in independent shorts they are more fun for the film makers/actors than anyone else, and they distract the audience from the credits (which when doing short films, you want people to really see your name, ring up their agent and get you to make them a film clip or something, that's how Michael Goundry was discovered) and they also subtract from the digetic effect, which may not be so important for comedy (looked like a comedy?).

but one more time, i didn't see it with sound, so it may have been part of the artistic choices to best reflect the genre or something like that. but yeah great for something that was "thrown together on short notice" i'm sure we'll see some good things to come
